Greeting folks in “blog-land”! Finally I’m doing what my wife, Lisa, has been asking me to do: start my own blog!
My name is Ray Diggs II. I'm a Southern California resident, originally from the Bay Area, Northen California. I’m a married, late-40’s, communications operator for the Sate of California. Working for the state is my second career. I spent my late 20’s, 30’s & early 40’s working in the print media as a journalist. Most of my writing career was in sports coverage, editing stats & box scores (that’s called agate in the industry), as well as community news. I was also responsible for monitoring TV news coverage, police scanners & dictating news tips.
Journalism news is in my DNA, but my passion is sports! I come from a family sports background. Both my parents, aunts, uncles were all track and field sprinters, with some football and baseball players sprinkled in the mix.
By most accounts, I’m considered the family black sheep! How? I’m the only marathon runner in the family, who likes NASCAR, Formula One, hockey and lacrosse!
The purpose of this blog (besides putting my two cents worth on the table) is more therapeutic for myself and my wife because she’s tired of me “venting” about stuff she ‘s already “knows.”
In other words, my wife wants me to vent and rant on the blog and not to her. Whatever! Oh well, what the heck!
